Sample cnc plasma cutter cuts

The variety of shapes that can be cut by a cnc plasma cutter is almost limitless. Operations not usually regarded as suited for burning are not only possible, but often far superior than doing the same thing with machine tools.

Imagine how long it would take to make the exhaust header flange shown above with a milling machine--even a CNC milling machine. The piece took under 1 1/2 minutes to produce, bolt holes and all, with a Torchmate cnc plasma cutting machine operating at 70 inches per minute.

How else could the 18" long Harley Davidson logo be cut in 1/4" plate? Perhaps by a hugely expensive die in a giant punch press, but not likely. It took 7 minutes with a cnc plasma cutter. Dross was minimal except on the very narrow cross-sections.
